HPTC Career Programs

  • Automotive Technology

    Learn operations related to the entire field of automobile repair and maintenance are covered in this course.

    This program prepares students in the areas of fundamentals, engine performance, safety, brakes, electrical systems suspension, drive trains, and heating and air conditioning. 

  • Medium- Heavy Duty Truck

    Instruction in the Medium/Heavy Duty Diesel Truck Program will provide students with the technical background necessary to inspect, diagnose, and correct problems associated with medium/ heavy duty diesel trucks and heavy equipment.

    Using guidelines developed by business, industry, and labor, students are prepared for a productive career in medium/ heavy duty diesel truck technology

  • Health Careers Certification

    Health Careers Certifications offers students the opportunity to pursue a variety of career pathways in the medical field. 

    The Health Careers Program can lead to certification for job placement in the numerous career majors.

  • Welding Technology

    In this program, students will receive training in blueprint reading, metal fabrication and layout.

    They will gain experience in identifying and joining a wide range of metals and develop the special skills necessary for success in the trade.  

  • Practical Nursing

    The HPTC Practical Nursing program is approved by Oklahoma Board of Nursing and Oklahoma Department of Career & Technology Education.

    It is designed for adults who want a challenging career full of opportunities as an LPN.

  • Construction Trades

    Using business, industry, and labor guidelines, the Construction Trades program provides students with the skills, knowledge and attitude to become employable in the construction trades industry.

    Coursework includes training in the use of hand and power tools, safety practices, drafting and design, blueprint reading, estimating materials, framing skills, finishing skills, safety and cabinet and furniture construction.

  • Business & Marketing

    Marketing Management teaches students the fundamentals of marketing and business operation.

    Course topics include business management, supervision, employee survival skills, human relations or basic interpersonal skills, economics, sales and promotion.

  • Multimedia Production

    The Multimedia program helps students explore the creative and technical aspects of integrating text, graphics, animation, audio, scripting, coding, motion capture and video to produce engaging and multi-sensory experiences. 

    The class offers hands on applications, up to date equipment and technology. 

  • Service Careers

    Service Careers is designed to teach students the various skills necessary to be successful in the field of teacher prep, building and grounds maintenance and horticulture.

    Students have the opportunity to explore various occupational areas that enable them to make informed career choices. Through this exploration, students develop a positive self image, which enables them to gain the insight needed to develop in other career areas.

  • Advanced Wind Tech

    The Advanced Wind Technician Certification Program is a flexible and affordable course of study that will prepare students for a rewarding career in this fast-growing field. 

    It is an intense, challenging set of courses, and class size is limited to 18 of the best-qualified applicants.

  • Technical Applications Program (TAP)

    The TAP Program at High Plains Technology Center is a cooperative effort with the partner schools in the district as well as community leaders, business owners, parents, and students. The Technical Applications Program allows students to experience the programs offered at HPTC at an earlier age, learn fundamental skills, explore and choose a desirable career path, and ultimately become confident, successful adults.

Be Workforce Ready

HPTC career courses are designed for high school and adult students wanting to develop career and technical skills. High school juniors and/or seniors can attend class either during the morning from 8:00 am until 11:00 am or during the afternoon session from 12:15 pm to 3:15 pm. Adult students' schedule could vary and they may attend either during the morning session between 8:00 am and 11:00 am or the afternoon session between 12:15pm - 3:15pm or they may enroll in full day programs . Some variations in schedules are allowed due to coordination with a sending school.

To enroll in a daytime program at High Plains Technology Center, students should schedule a visit with the school counselor. Prospective students are asked to complete an application form and return the application to High Plains Technology Center. Admission applications for High School students and adult students are available at the Student Services offices or by calling the school counselor.

Testing for placement in daytime programs is coordinated by Amber Riley, Guidance Counselor at High Plains Technology Center at 580.571.6183.

Career programs are a great way to be workforce ready upon completion of one of our programs.  Many programs have various certifications for students to obtain, letting prospective employers know that the student has been fully trained and ready to be a productive employee.  Our real world work shops and training modules provide students hands on learning experiences.
