Student Success Spotlight: Zoey Coberley
Zoey Coberley is a senior in the Service Careers – Teacher Prep program and a student at Sharon-Mutual High School who is already making a meaningful impact on those around her. Known for her kindness, leadership, and genuine care for others, Zoey exemplifies what it means to serve with heart and purpose.
Zoey says her favorite part of the Teacher Prep program has been the opportunity to mentor younger students, where she has been able to build relationships and encourage them as they learn and grow. She has also gained valuable real-world experience by running the cash register in the snack bar, developing responsibility, communication skills, and confidence.
After graduation, Zoey plans to attend college—possibly Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NWOSU)—where she hopes to earn a bachelor’s degree in Education. Her time in the Service Careers program has solidified her calling to become a teacher and prepared her with hands-on experience working with students of all ages.
Through HPTC, Zoey has gained practical skills that she will carry into her future classroom, including working directly with students and learning how to teach and connect with learners at different stages. These experiences have shaped her understanding of what it takes to be an effective and compassionate educator.
One moment that stands out to Zoey happened this past summer when she ran into a student she had mentored the previous school year. The student ran up and gave her a big hug—a simple but powerful reminder of the difference she had made. “At that moment,” Zoey shared, “I knew I was a difference maker in her life.”
Service Careers instructor Megan Lasley describes Zoey as someone with “a huge heart” who is always willing to lend a hand. “Her hard work and determination show in both classroom performance and leadership with peers,” Lasley said. “Zoey’s bright smile lights up any room, making everyone feel welcomed and encouraged. With her caring nature and passion for helping others, there’s no doubt she will make an excellent teacher one day.”
With her compassion, dedication, and servant’s heart, Zoey Coberley is well on her way to shaping future generations—one student at a time.
